The conference story

Princeton asked what comes after access: equal experience, voice, and power.

Princeton matched 1vyG’s theme with its structure: more than 300 students met in one gathering while 150 administrators convened in another.

Inside the gathering

Two linked convenings, one agenda for change.

From Moment to Movement

More than 300 students from 34 institutions came to Princeton for the fifth 1vyG. Panels and workshops examined first-generation and lower-income identity across three settings—campus, hometown, and professional life—and asked how personal experience could become community leadership.

A linked conference brought 150 administrators from 40 institutions to campus. Its overlap with 1vyG created a rare exchange between the people living institutional gaps and those responsible for addressing them, while a conversation with Jessica Brown, Viet Nguyen, and Myesha Jemison kept the agenda grounded in books, food insecurity, mental health, burnout, and mentorship.
